Humour, laughter and positive energy – fragments of our life walking hand in hand and at the same time an indispensable element of our every day life. This is particularly true considering the crisis we are facing today. These three elements represent one of the principal focuses of the Cultural Club Janez Jalen amateur theatre group. The club has its roots in the twenties of the previous century and has been present in the various spheres of amateur, i. e. nonprofessional production for more than six decades.
During the period of long and colourful history this theatre has proved to be the most important as well as the most successful activity – the team, eager to find new challenges on stage at home and also abroad are constantly reaching more and more new goals.
Our theatre production most important objective is the fusion of entertainment and quality, performances that entertain as well as stimulate the reflection – the work we love and enjoy but at the same time the work that inspires our audience. We wish to share our positive energy and our love for theatrical art with as many spectators as possible – considering the number of visitors as well as the laughter and satisfaction of our audience we are quite successful in performing this task. Its positive response is the proof that our renouncing and efforts haven't been in vain and so we tend towards even greater quality.
Love gives birth to only the best. The proof are not only the happy audience but also the vast palette of rewards – among others also Linhart memorial tablet and gold badges but we are extremely proud of the Stane Sever fund reward. We have been in the finals of the Linhart meetings of theatre groups four times, we were also awarded the Brezovica Community Coat of Arms. With one of its recent performance, Ana Migrena, the burlesque or comical commentary on modern popular culture, our group – theatre Janez Jalen proved that the line between the professional and the amateur theatre can be rather blurred. The performance has already had sixteen restagings and because of the great interest it is likely to have many more.
There is also a children's or youth theatre group within the Cultural club Janez Jalen. Our wish is to spread knowledge about theatre and love for theatre also among younger generations.
